30 years in education across three continents. Now building the tools I wish I'd had.
I've spent 30 years in education — as a classroom teacher, curriculum leader, and principal across the United States, Hong Kong, and Australia. Twelve of those years have been in Australian schools.
My mother was a teacher for 40 years. Toward the end, the growing paperwork pushed her to early retirement. She told me: 'I just want to teach kids to read.' That stayed with me.
When AI tools started becoming viable for education, I saw the chance to solve the problem I'd watched crush teachers my entire career. Not with another platform to learn, but with agents that do the admin work for them.
I founded Teacharo — a voice-first teaching assistant built specifically for Australian schools. My consulting practice grew alongside it, because I realised schools needed more than a product. They needed someone who understood both the classroom and the technology to help them navigate this shift safely.
"I just want to teach kids to read." — Janet's mum, after 40 years of teaching
My consulting practice and Teacharo grew together because they solve different parts of the same problem. Schools don't just need tools — they need someone who can help them understand the landscape, build a strategy, and support their staff through the change. Consulting gives me that direct relationship with schools, and those conversations make Teacharo better. They're complementary, not competing.
Every engagement begins with a conversation.
